Fatih Al-Mudarres was born in 1922 in the city of Aleppo, and is considered one of the most prominent founders of modernism in Syrian and Arab plastic art. He studied art in Rome, before returning to Syria and contributing to shaping the features of the contemporary Syrian plastic movement.

His works were distinguished by a unique visual style, whose themes were inspired by the Syrian environment, myths, people, and popular memory, giving Syrian painting a special artistic identity that received wide appreciation in international forums. He participated in dozens of exhibitions inside and outside Syria, and his works have been acquired by prestigious museums and art institutions around the world.

Fatih Al-Mudarres passed away in the summer of 1999, but his artistic and intellectual influence is still present in the Arab plastic arts scene, and his studio is seen as one of the most important physical evidence of his creative career, which gives his rehabilitation project a cultural and documentary dimension that goes beyond preserving the place to preserving an authentic part of artistic memory.
