Our Vision
Consolidating Syria's position as the heart of the world and shaping a prosperous and renewed future
Who We Are

The Ministry of Culture in the Syrian Arab Republic was established on November 23, 1958, as the national body responsible for formulating cultural policies, preserving tangible and intangible cultural heritage, supporting arts and creativity, and expanding community participation in cultural life, thereby preserving the Syrian civilizational identity and enhancing its presence regionally and internationally.
In the post-liberation stage, the Ministry works on rebuilding its role after decades during which the cultural space was restricted and knowledge-based and creative institutions were marginalized, weakening the capacity of culture to perform its societal function. Based on this, the Ministry seeks today to establish cultural work as a space for free dialogue and responsible creativity, and a core pillar in building a just, solidary, and diverse society.
In this context, the Ministry is moving towards developing a national cultural system based on knowledge, cultural justice, community participation, and empowering cultural actors in various provinces, restoring culture's role as a driving force for development and stability, and a foundation for building a unifying national identity in the transitional phase and beyond.
Our Vision & Mission
Vision
Building a cultural sector that reflects the depth of Syria's civilization, responds to the needs of society, and makes culture a unifying force that strengthens the national identity, connects the past to the present, the internal to the external, and elevates the aspirations of Syrians towards a more stable and prosperous future.

The Ministry of Culture is committed to developing cultural policies and programs that guarantee the right of all citizens to access and participate in culture, protect tangible and intangible cultural heritage and reintegrate it into public life, support arts, creative industries, and crafts as economic and developmental pillars, enhance the Syrian cultural presence regionally and internationally, and empower children, youth, women, and local communities to contribute to building a national cultural scene that reflects the energies of the Syrian society and its civilizational history.
Statement of the Minister of Culture

Mohammad Yassin Al-Saleh
Minister of Culture
For thousands of years, Syria has been the cradle of civilizations, the birthplace of the alphabet, the meeting point of religions, and the theater of thought, poetry, and art. Today, as we face major challenges, we believe that culture is not a luxury, but a national necessity, and an integral part of our project to restore the soul, build the human being, and reclaim the civilizational narrative.
We work at the Ministry of Culture with an open mind and a heart that senses the pulse of the Syrian street. We seek to empower creativity, embrace youth, preserve heritage, and enhance dialogue among all components of society, inside Syria and in the diaspora.
I invite you to be partners in shaping the cultural future of Syria, each from their position. Culture is not a monopoly of institutions, but the heartbeat of daily life, in the home, in the street, in the school, in the kind word, the refined behavior, and the noble stance.
“Together we write a new chapter of Syria's memory, titled: Dignity, Awareness, and Beauty.
