The Minister of Culture discusses with the artist Jamal Suleiman the role of culture and art in the new Syria
The Minister of Culture, Muhammad Yassin Al-Saleh, received the distinguished Syrian artist Jamal Suleiman, and the meeting discussed the role of culture and art in building the new Syria, in addition to the importance of strengthening bridges of communication between the various components of society, and rejecting sectarian rhetoric, by highlighting Syria’s cultural and civilizational richness, and strengthening its cultural presence in the world.
The meeting also touched on the prospects for cooperation between the Ministry Syrian culture and artists who have gained great experience through their work in Syrian and Arab drama and have become ambassadors for Syria around the world. Areas of cooperation include focusing on the Syrian cultural product in a modern language that suits the development witnessed by the public’s reception mechanisms. In addition to employing the capabilities of Syrian academics who specialize in theatre, criticism and cinema to raise the academic level of students of the Higher Institute of Dramatic Arts, in addition to highlighting the ancient and renewed Syrian national identity and highlighting the sacrifices of the Syrian people in their revolution against the defunct regime and establishing an inclusive discourse based on transitional justice and keen on the unity of society and civil peace.
