With great sadness and sorrow, the Ministry of Culture mourns the Syrian academic and translator, Dr. Musa Al-Halul, who passed away to God’s mercy at the age of 61, after a journey full of literary and critical achievements.
Al-Halul did not leave our world before leaving behind for generations about 65 books in the fields of literary criticism, writing, and translation.
Dr. Al-Halul is considered Who hails from Raqqa Governorate, and is one of the most prominent Syrian academics in the field of comparative literature and the transmission of literature and human heritage across languages.
He studied English literature at the University of Aleppo, then obtained a master’s degree and a doctorate in comparative literature and philosophy from the University of Pennsylvania. He worked as an assistant professor in Syrian universities in the 1990s, then moved to teach at the universities of Jordan and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
With the beginnings of the Syrian revolution, the deceased supported its demands and refused to return to Syria under the rule of the bygone era, and he lived in Istanbul, Turkey until his death.
