Deputy Minister of Culture discusses with the Chinese Ambassador ways to enhance cultural cooperation

Deputy Minister of Culture Saad Naasan received the Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China to Syria, Shi Hongwei, to discuss prospects for enhancing cultural cooperation and developing areas of joint work.

The meeting stressed the depth of historical relations between Damascus and Beijing, and the importance of expanding cooperation in cultural fields, through organizing mutual cultural weeks, lectures and seminars, activating translation and training projects, and enhancing cooperation in the fields of Cinema and theater, in addition to discussing the establishment of a Chinese cultural center in Damascus.

The Chinese ambassador referred to the cultural status of Syria, one of the stations of the ancient Silk Road, expressing the importance of enhancing cultural exchange, and stressing China’s readiness to provide training programs and support cooperation projects with Syrian cultural institutions.

The meeting concluded with an agreement to prepare an executive program to follow up on joint cooperation files, and to continue coordination in a way that contributes to strengthening cultural cooperation.
