In the presence of the Minister of Culture Muhammad Yassin Al-Saleh, the Minister of Communications and Information Technology Abdul Salam Heikal, and a number of ambassadors and official and diplomatic figures, the opening ceremony of the first edition of the activities of “Art Week in Syria” was held, in a cultural and artistic demonstration that brought together an elite group of Artists.

The Minister of Culture said, “In Syria, we live among the works of people who created centuries before us. We know many of them, and we may not know the names of others. But their influence remains in the architecture of our cities, their crafts, and the details of our lives.” He added, “The artists whose works we meet today add to this legacy, and to what future generations will know.” About us.”

The Minister also stressed the Ministry’s support for Syrian visual artists to work in times of freedom, pointing to the responsibility of the Ministry of Culture in preserving this freedom, and respecting the artist’s independence and right to difference.

He also stressed the Ministry’s orientation towards cooperation with the independent cultural sector to work on preparing a system of interconnected projects, which will be undertaken by Independent artists developed to advance visual arts in Syria. Among them is the project of the “Syrian Biennale” Foundation, to hold the first edition in Damascus and link it to effective platforms in the diaspora cities, Beirut, Istanbul, Paris, London and Berlin.

The Minister of Culture invited participants in the “Syrian Art Week” to attend the opening of the studio of the pioneering visual artist Fateh Al-Mudarres, which was sponsored by the Ministry of Culture in a message of support to all Syrian visual artists. As well as the opening of the annual Syrian visual arts exhibition, “Art has an Impact,” tomorrow, Saturday, at the National Center for Visual Arts in Damascus.

The “Syrian Art Week” offers an integrated cultural experience that goes beyond the boundaries of art exhibitions, to open wider spaces for cinema, music, dialogue sessions and various cultural events, in celebration of Syrian creativity and its diversity, in a way that consolidates the presence of art and culture in the Syrian scene.
