Minister of Culture Mohammad Yassin Al-Saleh inaugurated the children's book fair, titled "A Generation That Reads... A Nation That Rises," at the Syrian National Library in Damascus. This initiative is part of the Ministry's efforts to promote a culture of reading among younger generations and solidify the role of books in shaping awareness. The fair, which runs until April 26, features over 30 Syrian publishing houses and showcases a wide range of children's publications, including educational stories, scientific books, and general knowledge books. It also serves as an interactive platform bringing together publishers, writers, and those interested in children's literature, facilitating the exchange of expertise and the development of this vital sector. During the opening ceremony, Minister Al-Saleh emphasized that the goal is for Syrian children to read books that broaden their understanding, free from fear, and strengthen their connection to their land, history, and language without prejudice. This fosters the values of pluralism and acceptance of diversity. He noted that cultivating a love of reading among children positively impacts the nation's future and its ability to rise and progress. The fair is part of a series of cultural events organized by the Ministry of Culture to support the publishing industry and encourage the production of knowledge for children, thereby strengthening the presence of books in the lives of new generations.
