Azm Palace hosts “Craft Under the Light” sponsored by the Ministry of Culture and the Damascus Governorate

Under the auspices of the Ministry of Culture and the Damascus Governorate, the Rawaq Syrian Heritage Team organized the “Craft Under the Light” event, to shed light on five Syrian handicrafts that are threatened with extinction and to celebrate their makers. Al-Azm Palace hosts this three-day event.

The event highlights five Syrian handicrafts, namely glass, Al-Nahhas, Kamarji, Qamraji, and Al-Hayak, by introducing their aesthetics and cultural value, and highlighting the skills of the craftsmen and the history and details these crafts contain that reflect the richness and diversity of the Syrian heritage.

This event comes within the framework of interest in preserving the Syrian craft heritage, and enhancing the presence of traditional crafts as a living part of cultural memory and transmitting them across generations.
