
Syria participated with an official delegation headed by Deputy Minister of Culture Mr. Saad Nassan in the Mondiacult 2025 conference held in Barcelona, Spain.
Delegations from 155 countries participated under the theme “Cultural Policy and Sustainable Development.”
In the Syrian delegation’s speech, entitled “Culture for Peace,” Mr. Nassan emphasized that culture is a tool for dialogue and coexistence, a means to strengthen identity, memory, and heritage, confront racism and discrimination, and support sustainable peace.
On the sidelines of the conference, a series of bilateral meetings were held with delegations from several countries, including Spain, Turkey, Qatar, the Sultanate of Oman, Mauritania, Yemen, France, Jamaica, and Pakistan.
A special meeting was also held with the Director-General of UNESCO and the organization’s Coordinator for Cultural Support and Emergencies.
These meetings focused on discussing the conference’s work, sustainable culture, and enhancing international cooperation to promote culture. They also explored ways to support Syria’s recovery from the effects of war on its cultural and urban landscape and archaeological sites.
