With the aim of preserving intellectual heritage and enhancing access to it for researchers and future generations, the first specialized program of its kind for the qualification of manuscript catalogers was launched today at the National Library in Damascus.
The first day began with three valuable lectures delivered by Dr. Mahmoud Al-Sayed Al-Daghim and Professor Saeed Hijazi. The first lecture covered an introduction to the history of manuscript cataloging, while the second one was devoted to the mechanisms of searching for manuscript copies.
The program witnessed remarkable interaction from the audience, and it continues until Wednesday, August 20, 2025, and includes specialized lectures and sessions held daily from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., combining theoretical and practical aspects to provide participants with basic knowledge of the process of cataloging manuscripts and dealing with manuscript copies.
