Hand-printing on fabric is one of the oldest Syrian heritage crafts passed down through generations.
In the city of Hama, the craftsman Hassan Hawa continues to preserve this ancient heritage that has been passed down to his family for about 300 years. He has been practicing this craft for about 45 years using historical wooden blocks, some of which are nearly three centuries old. He is proficient in all stages of work, starting from making the blocks and preparing fabrics all the way to hand printing, so that this craft remains an authentic art that embodies the richness and creativity of the Syrian cultural heritage, and a cultural heritage that deserves to be preserved and documented. And pass it on to future generations.
