The Ministry of Culture organized a lecture at the Syrian National Library entitled “What did Arabic add to other languages?”, presented by the researcher in linguistics and language history, Mahmoud Al-Zaybak, in which he discussed the influence of Arabic on other languages and cultures and its role in civilizational interaction throughout history.
The lecturer highlighted the flexibility of the “ad” in cultural and linguistic interaction, And the contributions of Arab and Muslim scholars in establishing sciences and curricula whose knowledge and terminology were transferred to global cultures, confirming the growing intellectual movement in the country in the period after the end of the era of marginalization and tyranny.
Al-Zaybak reviewed the concept of linguistic relativity and the relationship of language to thinking, stopping at the transfer of Arabic vocabulary to other languages as a result of commercial and cultural exchange and translation.
He stressed the importance of studying the Arab and Syrian heritage with a balanced and mutual scientific approach. Knowledge among civilizations.
